Our social gathering series continues with "Lunches in Town". Everybody is welcome to join, please bring your own lunch! We meet every Tuesday from Nov. 12-Dec 31 from noon-1:30pm in the Community Room in the Police Station, 111 Main Street in Amherst. The room is on the first floor and fully accessible from the front door. Parking is available on the street and in nearby public lots.
The Fundraising Committee holds a monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of every month at 1pm.
Our service volunteer members help each other out in all sorts of ways!
Volunteers do everything from visit with their pets, play a game, offer a friendly conversation, organize or declutter, go for a walk, provide IT assistance, do errands or odd jobs, share a cup of coffee, or provide rides!
We can also share how to volunteer in other ways, including helping with events, on a committee, and lots of other ways!
You choose what you do and when you‘d like to do it!

What do our dreams say about us? And what do they tell us? Roughly a third of our day is spent asleep, yet dreams are frequently seen as garbled mind work. According to the Talmud, sleep is one sixtieth of death. The Egyptians saw dreams as prophecy. For Thomas Acquinas, dreams are communications with either the divine or the devil. Sigmund Freud argued that dreams are expressions of our subconscious. What kind of relationship do we have with dreams? This program will navigate the delicate line separating the private from the collective.
Ilan Stavans is Lewis-Sebring Professor of Humanities and Latin American and
Latino Culture at Amherst College, the publisher of Restless Books, and a consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary. He is also a translator, TV host and prolific author and editor His volume Sabor Judio: The Jewish Mexican Cookbook (coauthored with Margaret RE. Boyle) is just out.

The Amherst Neighbors Board of Directors holds a monthly meeting on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. Due to the holiday this month, the November Board of Directors Meeting has been moved to the following Wednesday.
