About this event

The weather outside is getting colder and colder, so why not snuggle up with a great book and join the Amherst Neighbors book group on Thursday, January 27th from 4 pm - 5:30 pm to discuss the 2021 Pulitzer Prize award winning book for fiction, The Night Watchman by Native American writer Louise Erdrich. The Night Watchman is an impressive literary feat. Written to preserve the memory of the US government's attempt to close Indian reservations in the 1950s. This novel focuses on the struggles of a young Native American woman, Patrice (Pixie) as she struggles to find her lost sister, consider her romantic future, and decide what to do with her deadbeat father.
This novel was written as a tribute to Erdrich's father who served as the night watchman in a local factory.
