Project Check-in Group
Suppose you have an idea for a project, something you would like to get underway. Maybe it’s something you have long wanted to do. Or maybe it’s a brand-new idea, but you’re not sure you can get the momentum going. Patty Appelbaum proposes a project check-in circle. It’s a simple idea. You set goals for your project, and so do other members. Each week you meet briefly with your check-in group and let the others know how you’re doing and what your next goals are. No judgments, no demands. Simply a group of people supporting each other as they work on their separate projects.
This Amherst Neighbors Interest Group will meet initially for six weeks (Feb.12, 19, 26, March 5, 12, and 19) Members may join during the first or second meeting. After the second meeting, the membership will be limited to those who have attended the first or second meeting. If there is interest, the group will reopen at the end of the first six weeks.
From Patty - “I’ve had a lot of practice completing long-term projects as a writer and freelance academic, and also as a down-sizing empty-nester. But I’ve sometimes wished for more connection and company in the process. In my most recent workplace, a small nonprofit organization, I belonged to an informal mutual-accountability group that proved very helpful. This group grows out of that model.”
