Caring for a Loved One with Changes in Memory, Dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease
This educational session will discuss care of the older adult with changes in memory, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Information will be shared on the recognition of signs and symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease and tips provided on caregiving for a loved one.
Presented by Laura Hummel RN, MSN, CDP, a Registered Nurse, Special Projects Manager and clinical educator with the Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice. Laura has professional experience in Hospice, Palliative Care and the care of older adults with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Her prior work experience in NY includes roles as a consultant and educator to numerous Skilled Nursing Facilities where she focused on the delivery of quality oriented, person centered care in the older adult population. She currently manages the Cooley Dickinson Pioneer Valley Memory Care Initiative, a grant funded community-oriented support network serving those individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
