Services Committee: Develops, supports, and oversees the many aspects of our volunteer program for Amherst Neighbors members age 55 and over. This committee ensures the proper orientation and support of our volunteers and the linking of volunteers and members.
Communications and Outreach Committee: Ensures that older adults and all those who care about and for older adults are aware of Amherst Neighbors' offerings; brings in new members seeking social, volunteer, and/or support engagement; informs our community through our website, newsletter, social and print media and outreach activities.
Governance Committee: Establishs policies and procedures that support the organization in functioning well and efficiently and oversee performance evaluation and board development.
IT Committee: Oversee our web site, Run My Village program platform, our data base, and communications infrastructure.
Programs Committee: Offers events that support our members in living empowered, connected, joyful, and meaningful lives as they age within their community. Our programs are given by members, volunteers, and other invited speakers. We strive to make them accessible to all by offering daytime and evening programs, inviting diverse speakers, and holding events at various locations (that are accessible) within Amherst and Pelham communities. Join us in identifying the topics and speakers who focus on the joyful and generative aspects of being older as well as the emotions and realities of aging.
Fundraising Committee: Spreads the word and raises the funds needed for Amherst Neighbors to currently be a no-fee village. The committee is responsible for creating relationships and raising funds from individuals, local businesses and corporations either directly, via grants or as in-kind donations. These funds are necessary for our operating budget which includes printed materials, paid Administrator/Volunteer Coordinator, informational technology and website support, events, and insurance.
Finance Committee: Protects Amherst Neighbors by instituting sound practices to manage cash, protect assets and to comply with regulatory requirements. To oversee the preparation of the annual budget and financial statements in consultation with the Treasurer. Ensures that adequate operating information is available to officers, directors and members of Amherst Neighbors.
