About this event
“James” retells The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn through the eyes of Jim, a Black enslaved man. When Jim overhears plans to sell him and separate him from his family, he escapes down the Mississippi River with Huck Finn.
Through this journey, the novel explores racism, freedom, and survival — highlighting Jim's intelligence, agency, and compassion, and challenging long-held literary portrayals of enslaved people.
