Welcome to Amherst Neighbors!

Amherst Neighbors is a member- and volunteer-driven community helping older adults stay connected, supported, and independent while aging at home in Amherst and Pelham.

Our mission is to create neighbor-to-neighbor connections, provide access to information and services, and empower older adults to maintain socially engaged lives while aging in their own homes. We do this through rides and practical help, friendly visits and check-ins, and a variety of in-person and virtual social and educational programs.

We believe in reciprocity and interdependence. Everyone has something to give, and we all benefit by giving and receiving support. Interdependence means we need each other to thrive and feel at home in our communities.

Our members come from many backgrounds and live in all kinds of homes: apartments, condominiums, retirement communities, single-family houses, homes shared with friends or family, and temporary housing. Neighbors of all ages are welcome as volunteers and supporters.

Amherst Neighbors is updating its membership database to keep accurate records, better understand our members' needs, and continue planning thoughtfully for the future.

We are now beginning the first stage of this project: asking members to complete a brief online form accessible through THIS LINK

This form will allow you to confirm whether you would like to remain an Amherst Neighbors member and to update your contact information. Please complete it by September 15th.

After that date, we will move to the second stage of the project and follow up by email with members who have not yet completed the form. Finally, those we have still not heard from will be contacted by phone.  We will keep you informed every step of the way.

If we are unable to reach a member after these three steps, their record will be removed from the active Amherst Neighbors membership database. Anyone removed from the active database may contact the office in the future to rejoin or update their information.

As always, the information you provide is used only for Amherst Neighbors’ membership, communication, and service purposes. We will never ask for financial information, passwords, Social Security numbers, or payment as part of this project.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete this form. Your response will help Amherst Neighbors stay connected with our members and continue serving our community as thoughtfully as possible. Please let us know if you have any questions!

We need your support

Amherst Neighbors has grown remarkably over the past few years, from a small group of concerned and committed older adults with a shared vision, to a vibrant organization with nearly 750 members.

We are funded entirely by donations and powered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors: a passionate, diverse group of older adults who live right here in our community.

Your generous support is especially important during this time of rapid growth. With your help, we can:

• Sustain and expand our current programs
• Increase outreach to underserved communities
• Explore new funding opportunities and grants
• Deepen our connection with the broader community

Every contribution makes a difference!
